Welcome to the Aquatec Equipment Awards Programme, our flagship initiative dedicated to empowering marine scientists at the outset of their careers. This programme offers unparalleled access to advanced subsea instrumentation, fostering innovation and research in marine sciences.
We aim to advance scientific knowledge, promote sustainability, and protect our marine ecosystems for future generations by equipping early-career researchers and postgraduate students with the tools necessary for cutting-edge environmental study. Discover how you can contribute to exploring and conserving our oceans’ depths with the latest scientific instrumentation.
Successful awardees.
Countries with deployed instruments spanning five continents, in flumes, lakes, rivers, and coastal seas.
Total awards made of the AQUAscat® 1000R and 1000LT, the AQUAlogger® 210TY and 310TY, and the AQUAlogger® 520.
Established in 2012, the Aquatec Equipment Awards Programme is designed to support emerging marine scientists by providing access to advanced acoustic and subsea technologies essential for their research. This initiative bridges the gap between the scientific community and sophisticated research tools, fostering innovative studies that address critical environmental challenges. With a focus on marine conservation, the programme encourages applications that use these advanced technologies to explore and protect our oceans, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and advancing marine science.
The map reveals the Aquatec Equipment Awards Programme’s significant global presence. Each highlighted country signifies where our successful awardees have engaged in marine research, underlining our programme’s targeted contributions across different countries and continents. These regions, enriched by pivotal studies using instruments like the AQUAscat® acoustic sediment profilers and the AQUAlogger® series, embody our enduring commitment to marine science and understanding oceanic environments.
To apply for the Aquatec Equipment Awards Programme, aspiring awardees must submit a concise proposal that includes the following:
Proposals are reviewed by a panel from Aquatec’s product management, engineering, and marketing teams and evaluated on criteria of scientific merit, innovation, practical implementation, and the necessity for the instrument. Selected applicants will be notified and, upon agreement to terms and conditions, will receive the instrument in time for their study.
Awardees are expected to return the instrument post-research and submit a detailed report of their finding and different images of the instrument being used. Once a satisfactory report is received, a travel grant is provided, enhancing the value of the award.
Ready to contribute to marine science research with Aquatec instruments? Please make sure you submit your application before the deadline on April 26, 2024. Downloading and completing your submission is straightforward:
