Aquatec Group is pleased to introduce a new service for the AQUAscat to help new and existing customers make the most of their instruments, and optimise data collection and analysis. Aquatec Expert provides advice and guidance at both the pre and post deployment stages, as well as data analysis and reporting services. For surveyors and consultants, the complete Aquatec Expert service allows the AQUAscat suspended sediment profilers to be used confidently and efficiently, in order to enhance the sediment monitoring and understanding of an area. For researchers, the service can provide a solid baseline understanding of the instrumentation to aid future research. Aquatec Expert is also available for customers renting AQUAscat instruments.
Three service levels are available: gold, silver and bronze. Bronze level Aquatec Expert features a personal consultation to discuss the deployment in detail and pre-deployment advice comprising performance capability predictions and recommended instrument configurations. The silver tier adds a post deployment report, including a critical analysis of the gathered data, hand-tuned inversions and a processed dataset. Gold Aquatec Expert offers silver level service for two deployments within a 12 month period.
Elizabeth Paull, Sales & Marketing Manager, said ‘The introduction of Aquatec Expert for the AQUAscat instrumentation range allows those unfamiliar with acoustic sediment profiling to access the wealth of knowledge that can be gained by adding these instruments to projects, including dredge monitoring operations and construction works.’

Aquatec Group is pleased to announce the launch of Aquatec Rentals, a comprehensive rental service featuring the most popular oceanographic, environmental and offshore instruments.
The oceanographic and environmental rental pool includes Aquatec’s powerful AQUAmark 848 marine mammal deterrent, which is designed to deter porpoises, dolphins and similar toothed whales over distances of up to 1500m and is ideally suited for construction work. Also available are AQUAscat 1000 acoustic suspended sediment profilers and AQUAlogger 310TY advanced turbidity loggers. Aquatec Expert can be added to AQUAscat rentals – a service that includes personal consultation, pre-deployment advice and optional post-deployment reporting.
An expanding pool of instruments and accessories is also available for hydrotest monitoring, including the new HYDROlog 3000 next generation hydrotest logger, the established HYDROlog 2000 logger, AQUAdisp subsea display, AQUAmodem Op2 optical modem for subsea communication and HYDROgauge high accuracy digital gauge. For subsea leak detection, Aquatec’s field-proven LEAKlog system is available, including long range fluorometers (up to 10m range), highly sensitive acoustic sensors and temperature probes for detecting a temperature differential.
Aquatec Rental Rewards gives customers the opportunity to benefit from preferential rental rates, a discount on service and calibration for Aquatec instruments, and the opportunity to try out new technology first.
Elizabeth Paull, Sales & Marketing Manager, said ‘Aquatec Rentals allows our customers to rent fully serviced and factory calibrated instruments directly from us. We offer first class service and competitive rates, as well as providing training and support when needed.’

Following the successful launch of Aquatec’s Sediment? Solved range of products for the collection of suspended, bedload and deposited sediment, Aquatec is pleased to announce the addition of a new corer from MBT GmbH, MacArtney’s German subsidiary. The Frahm Sediment Sampler is designed to close the gap between the short cores sampled with multicorers and the longer cores of the gravity corers. In fact, with carefully selected weights, the bottom water can be sampled together with the sediment cores. The sampler was originally developed by the Leibniz-Institut für Ostseeforschung Warnemünde (IOW) and is now manufactured under license by MBT GmbH – MacArtney Germany.
Andy Smerdon, Managing Director, said ‘We have been working with MBT GmbH – MacArtney Germany for many years and are delighted to include their innovative corer in our Sediment? Solved range. Our customers now have a wider selection of corers to meet their needs.’ Find out more on our Sediment? Solved home page.
Aquatec Group is delighted to announce the expansion of the Sediment? Solved range to include instrumentation to measure surface sediment stability, with the addition of Partrac’s benthic flumes and Cohesive Strength Meter (CSM). Partrac’s Voyager II sea flume is the only commercially available ocean rated benthic flume, which is designed for in situ studies of threshold, erosion velocity and erosional behaviour of undisturbed marine muds. Designed to operate to shelf sea depths, the flume applies a controlled flow stress (or velocity) onto the surface of submerged bottom/bed sediments and various instruments monitor and record erosion as it proceeds.
The Cohesive Strength Meter is a field instrument that directly measures the surface erodibility of marine, fluvial and terrestrial sediments. It permits rapid assessment of sediment critical entrainment stress and provides a relative measure of erosion rate. This information is important for the understanding of benthic habitat stability, contaminated sediment dispersal, river bank and agricultural land stability, and the geomorphology of estuaries and coastal areas.
Andy Smerdon, Managing Director, said ‘The inclusion of Partrac’s specialist equipment expands the scope of our Sediment? Solved range and allows our customers to explore sediment stability and erodibility, as well as observing and collecting sediment.’
Aquatec’s Sediment? Solved range includes instrumentation to observe and collect suspended sediment, and collect bedload and deposited sediment. Recent additions to the range include Aquatec’s own AQUAlogger 310TY advanced turbidity logger.
