When the organisers of Corrosion, the world’s largest corrosion conference and exhibition, announced that their 2020 Houston edition would be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Aquatec quickly shifted from focusing on a physical stand to a safe and functional alternative that could reach their international customers and friends in the industry.

The firm created a user-friendly platform to show visitors its innovations in subsea engineering as well as some of its offshore cathodic protection and monitoring capabilities, an area in which the company has been active for over 20 years.

The end result is a Virtual Booth that looks and feels like a real stand. The experience starts with a welcome message from the CEO and continues with an invitation to explore the booth and discover which clickable elements either expand on the features of the products, open video presentations or present technical information and corporate literature.

Completely digital, and hosted in the company’s website, the booth is open to everyone and can be visited though this one-time link.

When a large North Sea operator needed two rapidly deployable pressure loggers to meet an imminent offshore mobilisation, they turned to Aquatec Group for a turnkey service.

Aquatec engineered a pair of ROV-deployable magnetic mounts to allow two of their AQUAlogger® 310 oceanographic pressure and temperature data loggers to be mounted directly onto subsea cross braces on a North Sea platform at two separate depths.

Aquatec delivered the pre-programmed instruments, which needed just a simple magnetic actuation prior to deployment subsea to trigger logging.  Both units have a “shake-to-show” feature which allows the user to see if they are logging before deployment via a useful LED indication.

The loggers are now recording wave-induced pressure variations to provide insight into the coming season’s dive operations, which will be carried out with new dive equipment.  After the logging is complete, Aquatec’s engineering team will download and report on the logged data when the instruments are retrieved.
