Aquatec Group is a respected manufacturer of oceanographic and subsea instrumentation, which is sold throughout the world for use by research organisations, survey companies, fisheries and the oil and gas industry. To support our plans for future growth, we need motivated and enthusiastic engineers, scientists and managers to help develop and sell our instrumentation products. We are currently recruiting for the following positions.

Product Manager

This role will focus on the AQUAscat Multiple Frequency Acoustic Backscatter System used to measure suspended sediment concentration and particle size information. The instrument has applications in laboratories, near-bed sediment transport studies, dredge monitoring and inland water quality assessment. The position will initially involve taking the existing instrument hardware through a rigorous validation programme, working with a wide variety of users both in the UK and worldwide to optimise its use in their applications. This will include data collection and analysis, both in the laboratory and in the field, working with other potential users, which will lead to the development and testing of data processing algorithms using Matlab. Subsequent tasks for the product manager role will include working with the sales team to provide technical support to market development, and developing and implementing a strategy for the future development of the AQUAscat product line.
The position will be based at our Hampshire headquarters in rural Hartley Wintney, but will require an element of travel and field work, both in the UK and overseas. There will also be a need to prepare and present technical papers about the instrument at conferences.

Requirements
~ A sediment related PhD or several years of field experience with acoustic and sediment-related oceanographic instrumentation.
~ Ability to develop and implement algorithms using Matlab
~ Ability to research and distil information from learned journals
~ Good understanding of field measurements in coastal and inland waters
~ Ability to organise and manage work independently
~ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
~ Good interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to the academic and survey community.
~ Current UK or International driving licence
~ EU Citizen or UK Work Permit Holder

Electronics Engineer

The role will be to provide support and technical development for Aquatec’s standard products as well as producing designs for custom applications when required. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years experience in designing and fault finding digital and analogue electronics.

Essential requirements
~ Good knowledge of C and assembler
~ Design of electronics to schematic level.
~ Ability to understand and debug electronics using the schematic.
~ EU Citizen or UK Work Permit Holder

Additional desirable specific skills
~ ADSP2185 Assembler
~ Blackfin DSP programming using C
~ PIC microcontroller programming in Assembler
~ Xilinx FPGA programming using VHDL and the schematic editor
~ User interface programming using LabWindowsCVI. C based programming environment.

Sales Manager

We are looking for an experienced sales manager to lead marketing and sales of our oceanographic products, including the AQUAlogger and AQUAscat lines. The sales manager will be responsible for all marketing and sales activities for these products, including researching and developing existing and new markets both in the UK and overseas. Activities will include new market development, customer contact, preparation of quotations and proposals, setting, forecasting and delivering sales goals, conducting market research, and setting marketing objectives, strategies and plans. The sales manager will need to establish a detailed understanding of the products and their applications. The position will be based at our Hampshire headquarters in rural Hartley Wintney, but will require UK travel and occasional overseas travel.

Requirements
~ At least five years proven experience in international sales and marketing of oceanographic or similar instruments
~ Self-motivated and independent, able to set clear goals and meet them
~ Engineering or science degree preferred
~ Current UK or International driving licence
~ EU Citizen or UK Work Permit Holder
